Laura works as a personal coach with students who need or desire a one-on-one learning experience. One-on-one tutoring allows Laura to more specifically identify the problem areas and custom design a process to develop a student's weaker areas. Comprehensive review of the Scientific Process and how it is integrated with the ACT Science part of the test. Typically the math review covers the most common algebra/geometry concepts that are tested throughout the test. Most of the Trigonometry concepts are represented by the Unit Circle, so we do a thorough review of the Unit Circle. Practice is the key to finishing these test sections in the required time frame. Each session will include practicing against the stop watch to get students to complete their work on time. During these sessions I study the student's approach to solving each problem and I am trying to spot the moment they make a mistake to help them increase their awareness of how the little things can affect their problem solving approach.

Homework is where the student practices on their own the concepts covered in each session. It is assumed that the homework will be done and the student will bring it back at the next session.

George really enjoys the one-on-one tutoring experience which allows him the chance to identify exactly what type of math problems create the most difficulty for a student. Email George directly for all the details about his schedule and any other questions you may have about working with your student.

The Personal Approach

For more information about the test and test preparation, follow our blog at - allpencilsdown.blogspot.com where we will answer questions and share advice about getting your student ready for these tests.

Private tutoring is an alternate route to test preparation. It is designed around a one-on-one approach with the student is scheduled individually with each instructor: George for math and science, and Laura for English, reading, and essay writing. Hourly rates and the scheduling of lessons are arranged with the individual instructors. Email George or Laura if you are interested in more information about tutoring
