THE PSAT FOR 2015 HAS CHANGED.  Our class will reflect the new material and how the PSAT will be administering it.  For example - there will be parts of the math test that do not allow calculators.:)  The PSAT test is a very important test for high school juniors and it serves as a qualifying part of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. AllPencilsDown has prepared a prep course specifically to help students get ready for this test.

Course Dates and Times:

Tuesday, September 22: 5:30 pm - 8:45 pm

Tuesday, September 29: 5:30 pm - 8:45 pm

Tuesday, October 6: 5:30 pm - 8:45 pm

Tuesday, October 13: 5:30 pm - 8:45 pm

This course focuses on both the verbal skills development and math as it pertains to the PSAT test. All materials will be provided except for pencils and calculators.  We will also provide snacks at the given break time.

Note:  The preparation for both the PSAT and SAT tests is identical and this PSAT test is preparation towards the new SAT test that starts administration in 2016.   However, the format and scoring of the real test is different. English & Reading Workshop with Laura McDanal (for Sept Test)

The English and Reading Workshop will be held on Sunday, September 6th, 2015, from 2:30 to 6:30 PM.  The workshop is designed to emphasize the strategies and content of the English and reading sections only.  The course is structured in a way that is equivalent to the instruction received in 3 to 5 hours of private tutoring.

LOCATION:

Brookview Church
3699 Belmont Road
Birmingham, Alabama 35210

Students will receive slightly more English practice than reading because the explanations for the grammar from the instructor are needed more heavily than the reading comprehension questions, but all reading strategies will be taught and over an hour of practice will be allotted for the reading as well.

IMPORTANT: Students will receive an additional test to take home for practice.  It is very important that they utilize the strategies learned to apply to an additional practice test before the test day.

Laura and George

We’ve learned that prior to committing to actual practice and instruction, students and parents often have general questions and concerns about the nature of the test, about the productivity of preparation, and about the feasibility of practicing online. We’ve established a video based question/answer segment to help you get started and to help you gain more knowledge about those normal concerns.
