Laura McDanal and George Mizzell teach classes in Alabama for every ACT national test date. Classes are held in various locations around Alabama. The location and time for each class is listed below. We offer several kinds of classes and workshops and the price for each is also listed below. In the full classes all four sections of the test are taught thoroughly. Occasionally, we offer workshops and a workshop will be more narrowly focused and may cover only one or two subjects. George teaches the math and science, and Laura teaches the English and reading sections. The duration of each course is 4 to 6 weeks, depending on school calendars. All materials are provided except calculators.

Online ACT Prep Math & Science Workshop (for Oct Test)
George Mizzell
Math & Science Tutor/Instructor/Facilitator

Cost   $195

This Online Workshop is the "at-home" version of the Math & Science Workshop.  Each of the 3 videos are approximately 3 hours long, not including homework.  During the workshop students take previous ACT tests as practice to understand questions/answers on the actual test.  The videos have an explanation of every answer. These workshop videos can be watched whenever and as many times as the student likes until the test date.

After registration you will receive an email with information on how to access the workshop videos, plus the link to a Science Overview Video to watch before beginning the workshop.

Materials will be shipped within 2 to 4 days after order is received and payment has been made.

Workshop Outline

Session 1

Math: Focus on Pre-Algebra/Elementary Algebra - Generally Math Test Problems 1-30.  On Student's ACT Score Report if this line is less than 16 then your student would benefit from the material covered today.  The maximum score in this area is 18 and it represents 24 of the 60 math problems.  Generally, a score of 15 would mean 4 of these problems were missed, which would decrease the math score 2 to 3 points (just based on the "easy" problems).

Science: Focus on science passages and science concepts that appear more frequently - George will discuss the science behind the passage.  All questions will be reviewed in detail.

Session 2

Math: Focus on Algebra/Coordinate Geometry section of the test - Usually Math Test Problems 31-45.  On Student's ACT Score Report if this line is less than 15 then your student would benefit from the material covered today. A score of 15 means student missed 3 problems in this area, which would decrease the math score 3 points.  A score of 10 means they missed 9 to 10 problems in this area, which would decrease their score by 7 to 10 points.

Science: Students will work through a wider variety of science passages and more focus will be on improving speed.

Session 3

Math:  Focus on Plane Geometry/Trig section of the test - Usually, Math Problems 46-60, but will include some that are scattered in the 30-45 range.  Each problem missed in this section decreases score at least 1 point.  The max score is 18 and a score of 12 means 6-8 problems were missed in this section.  We will go over a wide range of problems in this area.

Science:  Focus is expanding on the types of passages and primarily working on speed on the hardest science passages.

For more information about the test and test preparation, follow our blog at - allpencilsdown.blogspot.com where we will answer questions and share advice about getting your student ready for these tests.

We’ve learned that prior to committing to actual practice and instruction, students and parents often have general questions and concerns about the nature of the test, about the productivity of preparation, and about the feasibility of practicing online. We’ve established a video based question/answer segment to help you get started and to help you gain more knowledge about those normal concerns
