AllPencilsDown is a partnership owned by
George Mizzell and Laura McDanal. After
approximately 10 years of providing ACT/SAT test
preparation classes and one on one tutoring
services, we have diligently studied dozens of
former ACT tests to pull together everything
students need to know in order to perform well
on test day. The classes in our area frequently
reach maximum capacity, which has placed us in
the unfortunate situation of turning students
away. In an attempt to solve this problem, we
concluded that a packaged deal in a video format
on the web was the best way to reach all
students who wanted help.

About the Instructors
Laura McDanal is a graduate of
Southern Wesleyan University--Central, South
Carolina with a BA degree in English and a
Master's degree in English Education from The
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Laura
is a State Certified Teacher with experience
teaching 11th and 12th grade English--Hoover
High School. She has almost 10 years’ ACT/SAT
tutoring experience with a strength in writing
skills, grammar mechanics, reading effectiveness
coaching, and vocabulary building. She also has
experience with English as a Second Language
students, specifically Japanese students.
George Mizzell is a 1979
graduate of UAB Engineering School -
specializing in Electrical. George has a strong
passion for helping students understand Math and
Science. He was employed almost 15 years as an
engineer with Alabama Power, and he has spent
the past 13 years consulting in areas which
include, but are not limited to, engineering,
programming, organizational effectiveness, and
marketing functions. George has developed a wide
range of Hands-On Science classes, and these
classes have been quite successful and enjoyed
by thousands of energetic students. He has
taught as a volunteer in Vestavia Hills schools
for the past 15 years. George has been tutoring
one-on-one and teaching ACT/SAT preparation for
the past decade and works with about 1,000
students a year in classes and one on one
sessions.

We’ve learned that prior to committing to
actual practice and instruction, students and parents often
have general questions and concerns about the nature of the
test, about the productivity of preparation, and about the
feasibility of practicing online. We’ve established a video
based question/answer segment to help
you get started and to help you gain more knowledge about
those normal concerns
